Sketches
The finished works are preceded by studies and sketches. Markus Heikkerö always has a notebook in his pocket and he draws constantly, everywhere. “I am a painter, therefore I paint.” When he travels, he also has paints with him and canvases that fit into a suitcase. The collection of more than 50 Suitcase Paintings from 1992 to 2012, is made as reminders, often contain the integral subject for the finished piece.
